APRIL 2, 2014- Get ready to dig deeper into your pockets....
PennDOT driver fee increases are now in effect.
The price hikes became official on Tuesday, and that's because of ACT 89.
ACT 89 is a state transportation mandate that requires you to pay more for driver services...
However, the funds raised from ACT 89 will go back toward bettering roadways, bridges and construction in Pennsylvania.
Some of the price hikes include the following: the fee for a replacement license plate will increase from $7.50 to $11; the fee for transfer of a registration plate from $6 to $9; the fee for vanity plates (personal registration plates) from $20 to $76; zoological and railroad special plates, $35 to $54; inspection stickers, $2 to $5.
Officials stress this is an investment in the future of Pennsylvania.
PennDOT says the change in rates will create projected revenue of $2.3 to $2.4 billion dollars for projects.
