erie, Pennsylvania - JUNE 24, 2014-- More than seven years after the closing of the mead avenue bridge, residents get a chance to see first- hand what may happen next. The public meeting was held this evening to show off the plans for the new Mead Street Bridge. Officials say they looked into seeing if the bridge was needed and found that it is. The project will cost around 11 million dollars that officials say will be paid for by federal and state funding. The old bridge has been around since the 1800's and officials say is a hazard to drivers. The new bridge hopes to provide for the community for years to come. Officials say if all goes as planned they hope to have the bridge open around the end of 2015.
