Hundreds of students from Pennsylvania?s state owned schools descended on the capitol today.
It was an outcry for legislators to fight against Governor Tom Corbett's proposed budget cuts to higher education.
Students, school officials, and legislators rallied the troops to protest severe budget cuts to higher education proposed by the Governor.
They say a 54% cut is just far too much.
The theme today was United we stand, Under funded we fail.
A Shippensburg University student launched the idea for this protest and hoards of people turned out.
Adding to the enthusiasm for the day were 80 cross country and track runners from Lock Haven and Millersburg Universities who ran a relay from their home campuses to show their disgust with the enormous cut in funds.
The ended their journey on the capitol steps where legislators took the podium expressing their concerns with the proposed budget.
Protestors say the loss of state funds included in the governor's budget would have a crushing impact on thousands of Pennsylvania's working class families.
