ERIE, Pa. -- Taki's restaurant, a longtime Erie staple, will soon be closing for good.
Bill Papanilkos, owner of the iconic breakfast spot, confirmed on Wednesday that work is underway to retire the business, possibly by mid-December.
The restaurant, 2933 W. 12th St., has been open in Millcreek Township since 1954. At one point, the family built the current building next to the original one.
The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch of both American and Greek fare.
Employees of the restaurant were informed of the decision earlier this week.
