erie, Pennsylvania - AUGUST 28, 2014-- It may be the summer season, but area Winery's are still recovering from the harsh temperatures that came through this winter. Officials say cold winters are usually fine for the grapes, but this year's extreme temperatures really hurt the crop's growth. Mazza Vineyard officials say they buy grapes from farms all across the North East and many of them are also suffering. Some of Mazza's grapes were lost too. Local grape growers say they do plan on replacing the one's that were damaged with new options. Officials say it could be a while before the new grapes are ready to harvest. Vineyards in the area say they will be buying the grapes they lost from other farms so they can continue to make the area's favorite wines.
