It is almost time for an annual event at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center that is sure you get you in the mood for the holiday season.

Jill McCormick has more in this PI 365.

They are ringing in the holiday season at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. It's time for TREC the halls.

Stacey Marendt, education specialist: "There are so many different stations for the kids to go to and they definitely will not get bored, and you can call and reserve a place for breakfast."

Breakfast at the Sunset Cafe is the only activity that will cost those attending TREC the Halls any money.

The optional breakfast with Santa is eight dollars and does require a reservation, besides that, Everything else is free.

"Well, we're doing a lot of new crafts this year. We do a different craft, and so we're doing about six different crafts for the kids."

"This event not only provides a lot of free entertainment for the children it also gives the Kiwanis Club of Erie an opportunity to give back to the community."

"The Kiwanis Club of Erie is really excited to host this event and offer the free crafts to the children in our area and to children around the nation."

The event not only provides fun and exciting activities for children at no cost, it also proves to be fun for the volunteers as well.

"We're excited. I don't know who benefits more, the children or the Kiwanians who volunteer at the event, so were hoping everyone comes out to the event and has a great time."

There's also a chance to see a free movie on the big screen.

"The movie is going to be Santa Buddies and that's about the little dogs and they're with Santa and it's a cute little Disney movie."

And hopefully a visit from a special guest from the North Pole.

With this PI 365, I'm Jill McCormick.

TREC the Halls is set for December 15th at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center.

The activities begin at 10:30 am with the first showing of the movie "Santa Buddies."

The hands on activities begin at 11 am and run thru 2 pm.
