ERIE, Pa - BayHawks Complete Season Sweep Of Swarm
ERIE, Penn. — The Erie BayHawks (22-19), NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, took down the Greensboro Swarm (13-27) tonight, 129-122, inside Erie Insurance Arena. Erie has completed as four-game regular season series sweep over Greensboro.
The BayHawks opened the first quarter on a 15-5 run. Erie was able to maintain its lead throughout the first 12 minutes of action. The BayHawks extended their lead heading into the second quarter, holding a 12-point, 38-26, advantage. Erie built a 45-32 lead off of an Andrew White III three-pointer, assisted by Jeremy Evans, at the 9:05 mark of the second quarter. The Swarm closed the gap, 59-56, off of a Luke Petrasek layup with 3:12 left in the half. After the first two quarters of play, Erie held a 68-63 lead.
The BayHawks built a 10-point, 76-66, lead off of a Beau Beech layup at the 8:11 mark of the third quarter. Greensboro clawed its way back midway through the third, narrowing its deficit to three points, 81-78. The Swarm took their first lead of the game off of a Cat Barber triple, 95-92, with just over one minute left to play in the third quarter. Heading into the final quarter of action, the BayHawks found themselves in a six-point, 100-94, hole. Craig Sword completed an and-one with 7:55 left in regulation to tie the game at 104. The BayHawks would end tonightâ€™s match on a 12-5 run, eventually prevailing, 129-122. Erie outscored Greensboro by 13 points in the fourth quarter, 35-22.
Jeremy Evans notched a double-double for the BayHawks tonight, finishing with a game-high 13 rebounds (six offensive), 21 points on 7-10 (.700) shooting from the floor, six assists, one steal and a game-high three blocks in 38.1 minutes of action. Josh Magette notched another points-to-assists double-double in tonightâ€™s win, with a game-best 14 assists, 11 points, two rebounds and one steal in 35.0 minutes. Andrew White III finished with a game-high 26 points on 10-19 (.526) shooting, including a 5-10 (.500) clip from deep, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 35.1 minutes. John Gillon tallied 17 points on 5-8 (.625) shooting, including a perfect 7-7 (1.000) mark from the charity stripe and two steals in 15.5 minutes of play as a reserve.
The Swarm were led by Terry Henderson’s team-high 24 points on 8-12 (.667) shooting and five rebounds in 29.4 minutes off of the bench. Mangok Mathiang pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds (six offensive), to go along with six points in 19.1 minutes. Sam Thompson finished tonightâ€™s contest with 21 points on 6-10 (.600) shooting from the floor, three rebounds and two assists in 36.2 minutes. Greensboro poured in 74 points in the second and third quarter combined (37 second quarter points, 37 third quarter points).
