Erie selects Hollowell, Lee in first round of NBA G-League Draft

ERIE, Pa. - The Erie BayHawks, NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, announced today its 2017 NBA G League Draft selections. The BayHawks selected Jeremy Hollowell (Round 1, Pick 18), Daesung Lee (Round 1, Pick 20), Jaylen Morris (Round 2, Pick 41), Chris Braswell (Round 3, Pick 70) and Deshon Burgess (Round 4, Pick 85).

Jeremy Hollowell was selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2017 NBA G League Draft. Hollowell comes to the BayHawks after a four-year collegiate career. He played two seasons at Indiana University (2012-14), before transferring to Georgia State (2015-17). In his two years at Georgia State, Hollowell appeared in 66 games (all starts), averaging 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 29.9 minutes of action. He was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team in 2017, after finishing with a team-best, 15.2 points and 5.9 rebounds, while playing a team-high 31.1 minutes per contest.

 

Daesung Lee was selected by the BayHawks with the 20th overall pick in today’s draft. Lee has spent the last three seasons playing for Ulsan Mobis Phoebus of the South Korean KBL (2013-17). Over those three seasons, he appeared in 94 games (45 starts), registering 5.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 19.9 minutes per game. Lee spent one season playing for BYU-Hawaii (2012-13), where he appeared in 13 games (eight starts), notching 5.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 17.3 minutes.

 

Jaylen Morris was selected with the 41st overall pick in today’s draft. Morris enjoyed a four-year playing career at Molloy College (2013-17). His best season as a Lion came last year (2016-17), as he appeared in 29 games (all starts), finishing with 19.9 points on .550 shooting from the field, 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals in 36.8 minutes per game. Morris was named to the ECC All-First Team in 2017.

 

Chris Braswell was selected with the 70th overall pick in the 2017 NBA G League Draft. After going undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft, Braswell has spent the last four seasons overseas playing for Chiba Jets of the NBL Japan (2013-14), Lapuan Korikobrat of Korisliiga (2014-15), ForexTime Apollon of Cypriot Division A (2015-16) and Les Lions de Geneve of the Swiss LNA. Braswell played four years for the Charlotte 49ers, appearing in 121 games (91 starts), owning career averages of 11.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 26.0 minutes of play.

 

Deshon Burgess was selected with the 85th overall pick in today’s draft, Erie’s final pick. Burgess had a four-year playing career at Union College, where he appeared in 49 games (24 starts) and averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals. He was the Liberty League Player of the Year in 2016.

 

The BayHawks will round out their training camp roster by Monday, October 23rd.  Erie will begin its training camp on Tuesday, October 24th at Penn State-Behrend, Erie Hall. Media members will have access to the final 30 minutes of each session, followed by media availability.
