Burrows Wins Home Debut with SeaWolves

Erie beats Binghamton 3-1 on bark at the park night in Burrows' home debut

ERIE, Pa. - The SeaWolves put their four game losing streak in the past to beat Binghamton Tuesday 3-1 at UPMC Park.

Luis Guillorme doubled to start the contest off of Erie's Beau Burrows, and then eventually scored on a wild pitch to give Binghamton the 1-0 lead.

Erie wasted no time in answering to their early deficit. Harold Castro extended his hitting streak to six games on a double, and was brought in on a two-bagger from Dominic FicocielloGabriel Quintana knocked in Ficociello for his 41st RBI of the season to give the SeaWolves a lead they would not surrender the rest of the game.

After a tough first inning, both starters worked into a rhythm. Chris Flexen worked five shutout innings leading into the seventh, and Burrows also blanked Binghamton until he ended his day in the fifth inning.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Grayson Greiner cranked a solo shot into left off of Flexen to extend the Erie lead to 3-1. This was the second consecutive game where Greiner went yard, and it was third home run on the year.

The bullpen for Erie stayed strong in the win. Zac ReiningerWaldis JoaquinKurt Spomer, and Jairo Labourt all backed up the starter with a scoreless inning apiece. Labourt earned his second save on the year for Erie to close out the ninth inning and win the game 3-1. Burrows improved to 2-0 on the season, allowing only one run on nine hits and striking out two through five innings of work.

Chris Flexen picked up the loss for Binghamton to fall to 1-1 on the season. The righty worked 6.2 innings and allowed three earned on six hits while striking out five.

The SeaWolves are now within a game of .500 at 30-31 and will play Binghamton tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Mickey Jannis (4-1, 3.58 ERA) takes the mound against Erie's RHP Artie Lewicki (3-2, 3.70 ERA).

Tomorrow is AAA Wednesday, and AAA members can save $2 on any regularly priced ticket by presenting their card at the UPMC Park ticket office. It's also Winner Wednesday, where four lucky adults (18 & older) will receive a SeaWolves prize back courtesy of the Pennsylvania Lottery.
