The Binghamton Mets snapped the SeaWolves three-game winning streak on Monday night at Jerry Uht Park, 11-4, in front of a season-best crowd of 6,091.
The Mets struck first in the second inning as Jayce Boyd sent the first pitch he saw out to left for a solo home run off of Jeff Ferrell for a 1-0 lead.
The Mets added onto their lead in the third. Brandon Nimmo and Dilson Herrera each got aboard with back-to-back one-out singles. Brian Burgamy doubled home the runners for a 3-0 lead. Boyd followed with a walk putting two on. With two outs, T.J. Rivera, Travis Taijeron and Xorge Carrillo each singled home a run for a 6-0 lead.
The SeaWolves responded in the fourth off of Mets starter Greg Peavey. Devon Travis led off the frame with a double. With one out, Steven Moya sent a laser over the wall in left for his 31st home run the year, cutting the Mets lead down to 6-2. The blast was also his 63rd extra-base hit with is a new franchise record.
Binghamton came right back in the fifth against Joe Mantiply. With two outs and Rivera on first, Taijeron doubled home the runner for a 7-2 lead. Taijeron would come in to score on a pair of Erie errors for an 8-2 lead.
Erie got one back in the sixth. Moya singled with one out for his third hit of the night. He moved into scoring position on a Corey Jones knock and scored on an Aaron Westlake single making it 8-3.
In the seventh, Erie made it a four-run game. Jamie Johnson and Jason Krizan connected on back-to-back singles. A double steal put the runners in scoring position. The stolen base for Johnson put him alone as the franchise leader with 60 career steals. He would score on a Dean Green groundout making it 8-4.
Binghamton added three more in the ninth and went on for an 11-4 win.
Ferrell (8-9) allowed six runs on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
