The SeaWolves took down the Trenton Thunder on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park, 3-2, en route to the clubs second consecutive win.
Erie grabbed an early lead in the last of the second off of Trenton starter Joel De La Cruz. Aaron Westlake doubled off the wall in left to put a runner in scoring position for Ramon Cabrera. Cabrera grounded up the middle for an infield single and a Rob Refsnyder throwing error allowed Westlake to score for a 1-0 lead.
Trenton tied the game in the third against Erie starter Kyle Ryan. Dan Fiorito singled and moved into scoring position on a Mason Williams walk. Fiorito scored on a Ben Gamel base hit, tying the game.
Erie regained the lead in the fourth. Engenio Suarez doubled and moved to third on a Westlake single. The knock for Suarez extended his hitting streak to seven straight games. Cabrera grounded into a double play, plating Suarez for a 2-1 lead.
The SeaWolves added a run in the sixth. Dean Green led off, reached on an infield single and advanced on a throwing error. Green moved to third on a Francisco Martinez groundout and scored on a Corey Jones sacrifice fly for a 3-1 lead.
Trenton struck for a run in the ninth off of reliever Kenny Faulk, but Pat McCoy came into the game and retired the final three hitters to record his first save.
Ryan (1-1) allowed a run on two hits with a walk and six strikeouts, earning his first Double-A win.
