The SeaWolves could not complete the sweep on Thursday night in Binghamton as they dropped the series finale to the Mets 9-4.
The SeaWolves jumped ahead in the second inning against Mets starter Gabriel Ynoa. Corey Jones singled with one out, moved to second on an Aaron Westlake single and scored on a Craig Albernaz knock for a 1-0 lead.
Binghamton quickly tied the game in the bottom of the second against Erie starter Wilsen Palacios. Jayce Boyd led off the inning with a double and moved to third on a T.J. Rivera groundout. Juan Centeno grounded out, scoring Boyd, tying the game.
The Mets took the lead in the third. Dilson Herrera led off with a double, moved to third on a one-out Darrell Ceciliani single and scored on a Boyd sacrifice fly for a 2-1 lead.
Binghamton built a three-run advantage in the fourth. Centeno doubled with one out and scored on an Wilfredo Tovar base hit for a 3-1 lead. Tovar moved to third on a Brandon Nimmo single and scored on a Herrera sacrifice fly making it 4-1.
Erie climbed back into the game in the seventh. Westlake led off and crushed an opposite-field home run, his 11th, making it a 4-2 game. With one out, Jamie Johnson triple and scored on two-out Devon Travis double making it 4-3. Dean Green followed with a run scoring double, tying the game. Green, with his team-leading 33rd multi-hit game, has hit safe in 15 of the last 16 games.
The tie game was short lived as the Mets came right back against reliever Slade Smith in the seventh. Brian Burgamy led off with a single and was doubled over to third by Ceciliani. Boyd singled home both runners for a 6-4 Mets lead. Rivera followed with a single putting two on for Centeno. Centeno singled home the runners making it 8-4 Mets.
The Mets added one in the ninth off of reliever Jose Valdez and went on for a 9-4 win.
Palacios took the no-decision allowing four runs on nine hits with three walks and a strikeout in six innings.
Smith (2-5) took the loss allowing four runs on six hits in one inning.
