SeaWolves lose rubber match in New Hampshire, 7-1

The SeaWolves dropped the rubber game of the series on Sunday afternoon to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 7-1 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Erie jumped ahead on the Blue Jays top prospect in the top of the second. Devon Travis extended his hitting streak to 13 straight with a leadoff knock. Ramon Cabrera followed with a hit putting runners on the corners. With two outs, Craig Albernaz singled home Travis for a 1-0 lead.
The Cats quickly responded in the last of the second against Erie starter Wilsen Palacios. Hector Gimenez and Andy Burns each singled. With two outs, Matt Newman tripled home the runners for a 2-1 New Hampshire edge. Newman scored on a passed ball with Jack Murphy hitting to make it 3-1.
New Hampshire added to its lead in the fourth against Erie reliever Ryan Robowksi. Newman led off the inning, went after the first pitch and went yard. His third home run of the series made it 4-1 Cats. Murphy then reached on an error and Melky Mesa belted an opposite-field home run for a 6-1 lead.
The Cats added one additional run off of reliever Kenny Faulk in the sixth. Murphy led off with a single and scored on a Mesa double making it 7-1.
Palacios (3-3) took the loss allowing three runs on five hits with three walks and no strikeouts in three innings of work.
