FNL: Thompson makes SeaWolves debut; Save-An-Eye Game a week away

The SeaWolves won an extra innings thriller on Friday night at Canal Park, taking down the Akron RubberDucks 3-2.
The SeaWolves jumped out to an early lead on Ducks starter Shawn Morimando. Steven Moya led off the second with a double and moved to third on a Corey Jones knock. Moya scored on a Francisco Martinez sacrifice fly to right field for a 1-0 Erie lead.
Erie moved ahead 2-0 in the top of the third when Devon Travis led off and belted a solo home run to left. It was his fifth home run of the season and first since June 14.
The Ducks got on the board in the home half of the fourth against Erie starter Jake Thompson. Adam Abraham led off with a double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Bryan LaHair groundout making it a 2-1 game.
In the last of the fifth, Ronny Rodriguez led off with a single and moved to third on a one-out Tim Fedroff double. Rodriguez scored on a Francisco Lindor groundout, tying the game.
Thompson finished after six strong innings allowing two runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in a no-decision.
The game remained tied until the top of the 10th. Jason Krizan led off with a double to the wall in left-center off of reliever Shawn Armstrong. Ramon Cabrera followed and drove home Krizan on a double to center, giving Erie a 3-2 lead.
Angel Nesbitt (1-0), who worked a scoreless ninth, tossed a scoreless 10th inning, preserving the Erie win and earning his first Double-A win.
