North East's Shesman Steps Down After 23 Seasons

NORTH EAST, Pa - North East football coach Matt Shesman calls is quits after 23 seasons as a head coach.  Shesman says he plans to teach high school math for at least one more year.  

Here are some of the facts and stats of his career:

3 Region 4 Championships: 2004, 2008, 2011.
11 District 10 playoff appearances.
District 10 AA Runner-up: 2001
ECL Coach of the Year: 1985, 2001
23 Seasons as Head Coach at NE: 1985 - 1989 and 1999 - 2016 (127 - 109 - 1).
9 Years as an assistant at Iroquois to Phil Glass (D-10 Class A champs in 1990, 1991, 1995 and ECL Champs in 1990).
36 years as a math teacher at Union City, NE, Iroquois, and back to NE.
