A back and forth game that saw both Erie and Harrisburg bring out their bats left the SeaWolves on the wrong end of a 10-7 score.
The SeaWolves opened up the scoring in the first when Eugenio Suarez leadoff with a walk. After reaching third on Hernan Perez' single, Suarez scored on a double steal and Erie took a 1-0 lead.
The 'Wolves added onto to the lead in the second. Luis Castillo picked up a two-out walk and scored on Marcus Lemon's RBI triple, extending the lead to 2-0.
The Senators jumped on the board in the third. Following Sean Nicol's two-out single, Anthony Rendon brought the run home on a RBI double, trimming Erie's lead to 2-1.
Harrisburg tied the game in top half of the fourth, started with a Jimmy Van Ostrand single. After getting reaching second on a base hit from Destin Hood, Van Ostrand scored on an RBI double from Ricky Hague, tying the game 2-2.
The SeaWolves quickly responded in the bottom of the fourth when James McCann sent a leadoff home run into center. Wade Gaynor continued the rally with a double and scored on a RBI single from Lemon, putting Erie back on top 4-2.
Erie added to its lead in the fifth. Daniel Fields reached with a walk and scored on a McCann's RBI single giving the Seawolves a 5-2 lead.
Following a temporary delay due to a power outage, the Senators' offense surged in the sixth inning. Van Ostrand kicked things off with a lead-off double and was brought home on a Hood single. Hague tied the game with a two-run home run into left-center, prompting a pitching change. Two pitches into Blaine Hardy's relief work, Brian Goodwin sent a solo shot in right-center, giving Harrisburg a 6-5 lead.
The Senators continued their offense into the eighth. Goodwin singled, prompting another pitching change. Following Nicol's single, Jerad Head loaded up the bases after being hit by a pitch from David Kopp.Justin Bloxom singled, bringing in Goodwin and Nicol. During the play, a throwing error from Tyler Collins allowed Head to come in and score, while Bloxom reached second. Van Ostrand followed with a single and a throwing error from Lemon allowed him to reach second, while Bloxom was able to come in and score, putting Harrisburg up 10-5.
The SeaWolves answered in the bottom of the eighth as McCann reached with a hit by pitch, followed by a Wade Gaynor two run home run to make the game 10-7. Ian Krol picked up his first save of the year, as he went two innings in relief and only surrendered one walk while fanning three batters.
Senators pitcher Tyler Herron (1-0) picked up the win going 2 innings of relief, giving up one run on two hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Erie pitcher Blaine Hardy (1-2) got the loss, as he gave up two runs on two hits in two innings of relief with three walks and one strikeout.
The SeaWolves will try to rebound tomorrow night with a 6:35 pm start. Erie will send LHP Matt Crouse (3-2, 4.19 ERA) to the mound against RHP Caleb Clay (3-2, 5.14 ERA).
