Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Francisco 49ers signed linebacker Blake Costanzo to a one-year contract on Tuesday.
Costanzo totaled nine tackles and a forced fumble in 16 games for the Chicago Bears last season, his second with the franchise.
Heading into his eighth pro season out of Lafayette, the 30-year-old New Jersey native has compiled 72 tackles and forced five fumbles for the Bills, Browns, 49ers and Bears since 2007.
Costanzo participated in all 16 games with San Francisco during the 2011 campaign, racking up 12 tackles.
To make room on the roster, the Niners waived guard Al Netter.
