The SeaWolves continued their clutch play on Monday night as they took down the Reading Fightin Phils 5-4 in front of over 5,000 fans on Buck Night.

The SeaWolves continued their clutch play on Monday night as they took down the Reading Fightin Phils 5-4 in front of over 5,000 fans on Buck Night.
 
Reading jumped ahead in the top of the first inning against Erie starter Jeff Ferrell. Peter Lavin singled with one out and Jake Fox belted an opposite-field, two-run home run for a 2-0 lead,
Erie responded in the last of the second against Reading starter Hoby Miler. With two outs, Dixon Machado blasted a solo home run to left making it 2-1.
 
The ‘Wolves grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. Jason Krizan led off with his second double of the game. Corey Jones singled putting runners on the corners. Ramon Cabrera grounded out to first, plating Krizan, tying the game. With two outs, Francisco Martinez and Machado each drove in runs for a 4-2 lead.
 
The lead was short lived as the Phils came right back to tie the game in the top of the fourth. Zach Collier and Matt Tolbert each singled with one out. Logan Moore doubled home Collier making it a 4-3 game. Albert Cartwright singled home Tolbert, tying the game at 4-4.
 
Erie regained the lead in the seventh against reliever Colton Murray. Martinez led off and reached on an error. Martinez stole second, and Machado walked putting two on for Craig Albernaz. Martinez and Machado executed a double steal putting runners on second and third. Albernaz grounded to first, plating Martinez for a 5-4 lead.
 
The ‘Wolves bullpen was fantastic as Kenny Faulk (2-3) earned the win tossing 2.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Will Startup worked a 1-2-3 eighth and Jose Valdez worked a perfect ninth earning his 14th save.
