(SportsNetwork.com) - Atlanta Falcons left tackle Sam Baker will likely miss the 2014 season with a serious knee injury.

Baker left Saturday night's preseason game against the Houston Texans with a torn patella tendon in his right knee, according to NFL.com.

If Baker is indeed out for the season, the Falcons could move No. 6 overall pick Jake Matthews to left tackle. Atlanta planned on starting Matthews at right tackle during his rookie season.

Lamar Holmes is listed as Baker's backup.

"Again, I don't want to speculate in terms of what we would do," Falcons coach Mike Smith said after Saturday's game. "We would have a number of options. Again, our number one goal would be to put the five best offensive linemen out there. We obviously know that he is one of the five best because he is a starter. Is he our best left tackle, our best option? That is something that we will have to determine if we have to address that."

Baker played in just four games last season because of a left knee injury that required surgery in November. The USC product has started 61 of 70 games since the Falcons selected him in the first round of the 2008 draft.
