Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Twins have placed starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain.

The move comes two days after the right-hander was lifted after just two innings against the New York Yankees on Sunday, allowing six runs on seven hits prior to his departure. Nolasco then underwent an MRI on Monday which revealed the injury.

Nolasco, who signed a four-year, $49 million contract with the Twins in the offseason, has gone 5-7 with a 5.90 ERA over 18 starts during a disappointing debut campaign with his new team.

Throughout nine seasons with Miami, Los Angeles and Minnesota, the 31-year-old has compiled a 94-82 mark with a 4.49 ERA over 247 games.

In a corresponding move, the Twins have recalled catcher/outfielder Chris Herrmann from Triple-A Rochester.

Herrmann went 5-for-41 during a 17-game stint with Minnesota earlier this season, but was hitting .314 in 33 games with Rochester.
