Otters Select Taylor Raddysh in First Round
Erie, Pennsylvania – The Erie Otters Hockey Club announced this morning that they have selected Taylor Raddysh of the Toronto Marlboros with the 19th overall pick in the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
Raddysh, a 6’ 190 lbs. right winger, recorded 25 goals and 52 points with the Marlboros during the 2013-14 regular season. Raddysh led all scorers at the 2014 OHL Cup with five goals and 14 points in seven games, and played a major part in the Marlboros OHL Cup Championship run. Taylor Raddysh is also the younger brother of current Erie Otters defenseman Darren.
The Ontario Hockey League listed Taylor Raddysh as a complete player that plays a solid 200 foot game. He rarely has a bad shift or bad game. He finished fourth in the GTHL in scoring and has had a very consistent season. There aren’t many things that he doesn’t do well. He is used in every situation and thrives in the offensive roles on the power play and at five-on-five. Taylor possesses a very good shot with a quick release and is very accurate. He is not the flashiest player by any means but he is very effective in all three zones.
The Erie Otters selected goaltender Jake Lawr 28th overall in the second round of the OHL Priority Selection. Lawr is a 6’ 2” 150 lbs. net minder who most recently backstopped the Halton Hurricanes.
The Ontario Hockey League listed Lawr as one of the top goalies all season and is one of big reasons why his team has had the success they have. At 6’2”, he is a good sized goalie that moves around his net very efficiently. Jake is solid positionally and when he plays at the top of his crease, he is very hard to beat. He doesn’t have a lot of wasted movement. He lets the puck hit him but also has the ability to make a desperation save when needed. He has good rebound control and pushes pucks into the corners very effectively.
With their first third round selection, 45th overall, the Otters selected Shaun Bily. Bily is a 5’ 11” left handed center man from the New Jersey Jr. Titans.
