Rangers Down Otters 6-3

Kitchener, Ontario – The Erie Otters started their four game road trip off on the wrong foot as the Kitchener Rangers hand the Otters a 6-3 loss Monday afternoon at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

The Otters grabbed the first lead of the game, when Brendan Gaunce netted his 25th of the season from Dane Fox and Connor Brown midway through the first period. The Rangers fired back, scoring the next six goals of the game. Scott Teskey tied the game at 10:11 of the first, while Mike Davies gave Kitchener the lead late in the period.

Kitchener added two more in the second period starting with Ben Fanelli making it a 3-1 hockey game. Darby Llewellyn extended the lead to three with his first of the afternoon. Curtis Meighan and Nick Magyar each netted goals in the third to put the game out of reach.

Connor McDavid and Kurtis MacDermid scored in the final minutes for the Otters, but it was too little too late for Erie.

Connor Brown extended his point streak to 11 games with his assist while Kurtis MacDermid netted his first goal as an Otter. The Erie Otters travel to North Bay next to take on the Battalion Thursday night.
