Apartment Fire in Meadville Overnight

Below zero temperatures made fighting this apartment fire more hazardous than usual.
January7, 2014- A fire in an apartment building in Meadville brought firefighters into the brutal cold early this morning.

The alarm was sounded shortly after 4 AM for a fire at 233 Boileau Place.

Crews from Meadville Central Fire quickly called for more help. West Mead 1, West Mead 2, Vernon Central and Saegertown Fire Departments were called on a second alarm.

Fire seemed primarily contained to one apartment on the second floor

The building was evacuated, no injuries were reported.

Cold weather was a factor, the temperature was -11 making the surrounding sidewalks and street a sheet of ice as the firemen battled the blaze.
