Beast on the Bay Obstacle
It is the first year for the Beast on the Bay obstacle course challenge which brought hundreds of people from several states out to take on the beast. Different obstacles were set up throughout the park, with lengths ranging from 4 miles to 15 miles and even an adaptive course first ever of its kind. Those taking on the longer challenges had to face 20 different obstacles, where they had to crawl, climb jump and roll to the finish. Everyone enjoyed the event and said the toughest part wasn't the obstacles, but running in the sand. For one family the event was extremely special. Alex Johnson, 7, and his mom, Dawn, drove in from
to support the runners. Alex’s Uncle, Vince Ferloin, ran in honor of his nephew. Alex, who has a traumatic brain injury gave his Uncle a big hug of support and cheered him on as he took on the beast. Alex’s mom told us her brother has always been so supportive of Alex and it brought tears to her eyes to know he was doing this for her son.
