Erie County detectives say school employees David and Anne Earls stole nearly 170 thousand dollars over a 12 year time frame from Saint Peter Cathedral School.
Charges were filed today against the couple from Maine.
Investigators say David Earls is the former business manager of Saint Peter Cathedral School and his wife worked in a different capacity at the school.
According to the criminal complaint, funds were stolen between 2001 through December 2012.
David is facing felony charges including unlawful taking, access device fraud and receiving stolen property along with a misdemeanor of tampering with records.
His wife Anne faces a felony charge of receiving stolen property.
The criminal complaint states David Earls moved funds around and gave himself raises and extra paychecks.
In addition, Anne Earls, who also worked at the school, was getting more pay and receiving checks for work that she never completed.
The audit also states Earls charged more than 13 thousand dollars on school credit cards.
The DA's office says a red flag was raised when a 300 thousand dollar lien was filed against the school.
