A special donation and dedication of an American flag and flag pole took place this 4th of July in
Millcreek to honor those who have served our great nation. There was a formal dedication done today, appropriately on this patriotic holiday. The Erie Golf Club is frequented by many in the Millcreek community including numerous veterans. The American Legion Millcreek Post 773 was represented today by their Color Guard as they surrounded the flag and flagpole they so generously donated. The Millcreek Supervisors briefly spoke and then the flag was raised, followed by a 3 round volley. Onlookers on the golf course paused for the National Anthem, including a group of Canadian golfers, taking off their caps to show respect. The Erie Golf Club recently underwent some renovation with the help of Millcreek Township. Millcreek Supervisor Brian McGrath got the ball rolling several months ago when he went to the American Legion and asked for their help. The organization was quick to sign on and everyone involved agreed this Independence Day would be the perfect day for the formal dedication.
