Community Brainstorms Ideas to Stop Violence

Dozens of members from the community attend a MATV town hall meeting to discuss ways to reduce the violence in Erie.
January 9, 2014 – A packed house of members from the community gathered Thursday evening for a town hall meeting in which plenty of ideas were thrown on the table.

The meeting was put together by Sonya Arrington of Mothers Against Teen Violence.

Community members were asked to write down their suggestions for how to reduce violence in the city and then those ideas were discussed.

Some of those ideas were to increase the number of after school programs, create tougher enforcement of curfew, walk throughout the city to really learn the status of our neighborhoods, and get more involved as parents.

Several leaders from within the community who attended said it was extremely important to attend this meeting and brainstorm ideas for the sake of bettering the community.
