Crews Remove Winter Cover from Niagara

Crews will spend 4-6 weeks getting the Brig Niagara ready for the upcoming sailing season.
April 2, 2014 - All hands on deck at the Erie Maritime Museum as the captain, crwe and volunteers take the winter cover off the Brig Niagara.

Captain Billy Sabatini overseeing the process today as the wood frames were taken off the ship.

It's a four to six week process to get the ship ready for sailing season.

It began yesterday when they took the canvas cover off.

There were 18 to 20 people working today which is a minimum amount of workers to do all the work by hand.

As of April 1st, the Erie Maritime Museum is open seven days a week giving visitors the chance to check out the crews hard at work.

Captain Sabatini also says the museum needs guides who can volunteer some of their time for the upcoming season.
