The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce the 75th Annual Pennsylvania State Bowling Association Championships is coming to Erie beginning on Saturday, March 29. The event runs for 12 consecutive weekends, excluding Easter weekend, and is held at Westway Lanes in Girard, and Eastway Lanes on Buffalo Road in Erie.

More than 8,000 bowlers and their families are expected to travel to Erie to participate in the tournament, generating an estimated economic impact of over $6 million for the region. Admission is free for spectators throughout the tournament at both event locations.

Opening ceremonies are open to the public, beginning at 3:30 p.m. on March 29 at Eastway Lanes. A private banquet at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center will be held following the opening ceremonies.

Two competition weekends will highlight charitable causes. Pink will be the theme of the April 25-27 competition, with proceeds from special souvenir sales going to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. A special veterans weekend is planned for May 16-18, with proceeds from special souvenir sales going towards Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL), an organization that brings bowling to veterans both in the U.S. and abroad.

“As this event draws closer, we are only getting more excited about it being held in Erie,” said Brett Rearick, Erie USBC Bowling Association Host Tournament Director. “It’s a big anniversary for this event, and it’s an honor for Erie to be the host.”

“It has been a pleasure working with Brett and the Erie Bowling Association to bring this event to Erie,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “We’re sure that it will be a memorable experience for participants and their families.”
