The SeaWolves dropped the series opener on Friday night to the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-3 at Jerry Uht Park.

SeaWolves wasted no time in the first inning as Jaime Johnson led off with a single, advanced to second on a throwing error from Squirrels starting pitcher Austin Fleet, and came around to score on an RBI double from Jason Krizan as Erie quickly took a 1-0 lead.

Richmond would respond in the fourth inning as Matt Duffy got on base with a leadoff walk.  Jarrett Parker brought him home with an RBI triple, tying the game at 1-1 against Erie starter Kyle Ryan. A wild pitch plated Parker for a 2-1 Richmond lead.

The Wolves answered in the seventh as Ramon Cabrera notched a one-out base hit abd Corey Jones followed with a two-run blast to right as Erie regained the lead 3-2.

In the seventh, Richmond tied the game against Erie reliever Angel Nesbitt. Skyler Stromsmoe, Kelby Tomlinson and Matt Duffy all walked, loading the bases. Stromsmoe scored on a wild pitch.

The Squirrels took the lead in the ninth on a Miles Schroder leadoff, solo home run off of Kenny Faulk (1-3).

Ryan took the no-decision allowing two runs on seven hits with two walks and a season-high seven strikeouts in six innings.
