Former Assistant to Mayor Announces Mayoral Bid

Jon Whaley, former assistant to Mayor Joe Sinnott, is launching a write-in campaign, just two weeks before election day.
October 21, 2013 - Mayor Joe Sinnott is no longer running for mayor unopposed.

His former assistant, Jon Whaley, who worked for the mayor from 2006 to 2007, announced he is launching a write-in campaign, just two weeks before election day.

Whaley says he and Mayor Sinnott parted ways back in ‘07 due to philosophical differences.

Whaley says what inspired him to run is what he calls a lack a leadership in city government, and he says the people of Erie's voices are not being heard, especially when it comes to matters like the future of the Mcbride Viaduct.

We talked to both Whaley and Mayor Sinnott, and Mayor Sinnott says he's surprised to hear of Whaley's announcement, but believes his administration is doing good things for the city of Erie.
