The Northwestern School District is where we found this week's Golden Apple Award winner.
Jet 24's Lou Baxter and company surprised a 5th grade teacher at Springfield Elementary School.
Ben Brozich teaches fifth grade at Springfield Elementary School in western Erie County. While he was a little league coach in college, he discovered he loved working with kids. After 12 years in the classroom, it's still his passion.
Ben Brozich, Golden Apple Award winner, said: "Seeing kids ...is really what gives you the motivation."
A student will have many teachers, but only a few will stand out. The student nominator says Mr. Brozich will be one of those teachers.
Breeya McCarthy-Hammer, student nominator, said: "Well, he always acts like family. And when we need him, he's there."
So how does a teacher become that special teacher? The teacher to be remembered?
Ben Brozich: "Just try to teach them like they're people ... test score."
Ben: "Try your best. Just get an 'A'."
Dr. Nomsa Geleta, Edinboro University, said: "They are coming in with a purpose...made an impact on one."
Congratulations to Mr. Ben Brozich, this week's Jet 24 and Edinboro University Golden Apple Award winner.
