Students go to the school just to be in her class.

That's one reason why Lou Baxter says she's this week's Golden Apple Award Winner.

Miss Judy Abel is an awesome teacher!

So writes Charlie Rutkowski, a 3rd grader at Our Lady Christian School. He and his sisters have all had Miss Abel.

What's so special about her?

Charlie Rutkowski, student nominator, said: "She taught me how to read really well ... It was a great experience for me."

This first grade teacher has been in the classroom reading stories to young ones for three decades, the last 23 years at OLC.

Judy Abel, Golden Apple Award Winner, said: "I always wanted to be a teacher ... just always wanted to be a teacher."

And while most people are passionate about their careers in the beginning, 30 years later, she still loves seeing these kids every day.

Judy Abel: "See how they grow ... back to school every single day."

Her passion for teaching, her love for students and their appreciation of her, doesn't go unnoticed by parents and faculty members.

Stephen Nemenz, OLC Principal, said: "I have family members ... specifically come here for her."

Congratulations to Miss Judy Abel, this week's Jet 24 -Edinboro University, Golden Apple Award Winner.
