Golden Apple Award Winner: Steven Simcheck

Steven Simcheck is this weeks Jet 24, Edinboro University Golden Apple Award Winner.
January 30th, 2013

Good old fashioned family values, learned from mom and dad on the farm, are what led to a Saegertown High School math teacher being named this weeks Golden Apple Award Winner.
Lou Baxter has tonight's report from Crawford County.

Steven Simcheck has been teaching for 22 years. He says he can't see himself being anywhere but in a classroom full of kids. The Cambridge Springs High School and Edinboro University grad had a lot of inspiration as a student, and he's now paying it foward as a teacher.

Steven Simcheck, Golden Apple Award winner, said: "Giving back what I ... I've had great teachers. I love doing what I do ... inspire me every day."

This week's student nominator admits that's true.

Sincheck: "Those are my kids. I care about the kids wholeheartedly."

Sincheck: "No matter ... been there before, and ...sometimes in the morning ... I'll be okay in college with math."

Mary Jo Melvin, PhD, Edinboro University: "Everything he does ... wants to make a difference."

And he does. And that's why Steven Simcheck is this weeks Jet 24, Edinboro University Golden Apple Award Winner.
