Jason Carniewski of North East is an airman first class in the United States Air Force. He enlisted six years ago, after graduating from North East High School. Jason's been stationed in Dubai for six months, working as a journeyman electrician who takes care of lighting on the airstrips and electrical issues on base.

Ray Krkoska, Jason's grandfather, says: "His father was in the Air Force and retired after 22 years. He saw it as an opportunity to travel, see the world and do something for his country."

At 24, Jason is expected home in three months, with offers from both the Air Force and a local company. He's also the father of a four-year-old son, who is described as the light of his life. U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Jason Carniewski, this week's Hometown Hero.
