House Democratic Policy Committee to hold public hearing on bullying Tuesday in Erie

Policy Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced that the House Democratic Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on bullying from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday - Tomorrow, at the Villa Maria Academy Auditorium, 2403 W. 8th St., Erie.
Policy Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, announced that the House Democratic Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on bullying from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday - Tomorrow, at the Villa Maria Academy Auditorium, 2403 W. 8th St., Erie.

State Reps. Ryan Bizzarro and Pat Harkins, both D-Erie, requested the hearing and will serve as co-chairmen. Bizzarro and Harkins are co-sponsoring H.B. 99 that would add definitions and penalties for bullying offenses into state law; H.B. 101 that would focus on the protection of students’ rights; and H.B. 914 that would expand public schools' current bullying policy to apply to actions such as harassment, intimidation, bullying and cyber-bullying.
