The Mercyhurst Prep football team defeated Saegertown 27-26 in overtime Thursday night to kick off week eight of the high school football season. Mercyhurst trailed in the 4th quarter until P.J. Wycheck's 41 yard touchdown pass to Ben Tarcson on 4th down and 4 tied the game at 20. Tarcson then sent the game to overtime with an interception of Panther quarterback Noah Marvin inside the Lakers 10 yard line. After Saegertown scored on its first overtime drive, but failed on a two-point coversion, Mercyhurst responded with a score. Needing just an extra point to win, Cornelius Barclay's kick was blocked by Kyle Wise, but an offsides penalty allowed Barclay to re-kick and nail the game winner.
