Participants Prepare for Perry 200 Parade

Governor Tom Corbett will be the Grand Marshal for the parade on May 25th at 1pm.
May 9, 2013 - In a little more than two weeks, downtown Erie will come to life for the Grand Patriotic Parade.

Participants are busy putting the finishing touches on their floats for the Perry 200 celebration.

Two hundred units are set to march 1.8 miles in the parade on May 25th.

This will be the first time in nearly 18 years that there are giant helium-filled balloons.

There are 50 floats set to travel east on 12th Street from Cherry to Third and State Street through downtown Erie.

The float builders are working hard putting the finishing touches on their masterpieces.

Bridget Buzard, from Therapy Dogs United, is keeping her teams float a secret other than revealing a drawing.

Meanwhile, Rick Trapp from the Commodore Perry Yacht Club says he's put in about 100 hours working on two ships.

Members from the SONS of Laker Erie created a red, white and blue patriotic float.

Participants aren't the only ones working around the clock to get ready for the parade.

Members of the Perry 200 Commission have been working non-stop.

Governor Tom Corbett will be the Grand Marshal for the parade on May 25th at 1pm.
