Pecan Praline French Toast Bake

<p style="text-align:center" align="center"><em>No need to stand over the stove making French Toast! This is an easy, make-ahead breakfast dish for Christmas morning, or ANY morning....it bakes up in the oven, leaving you more time with your family!</em></p>

Ingredients:

6 slices bread, thick sliced

6 eggs

1 cup low fat milk

teaspoon vanilla extract

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon cinnamon

 

Pecan topping Ingredients:

cup melted butter or margarine

cup brown sugar

cup chopped pecans

1 Tablespoon maple syrup

teaspoon nutmeg

teaspoon cinnamon

 

Directions:

   Spray 8x8 inch or loaf size baking dish with non stick spray

   Preheat oven to 350 degrees

   Cover bottom of pan with bread slices, in two layers

   Combine in a bowl the eggs, milk, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon

   Pour over bread slices

   In a separate bowl, combine:

            cup melted butter

            cup brown sugar

            cup chopped pecans

            1 Tablespoon maple syrup

            teaspoon nutmeg

            teaspoon cinnamon

   Spread pecan mixture over bread

   Bake uncovered 30-40 minutes until firm and egg has set.

   Rest for 10-15 minutes before cutting

   Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve!
