Pothole Fixing on Pause Due to Wintry Weather

Although the Erie streets department is not facing any budget or personnel constraints, Mother Nature is throwing a wrench in the fixing of potholes.
February 17, 2014 - A brutal winter is making it very difficult for city crews to patch up the potholes lining the streets of Erie.

Erie city streets department officials tell us the freeze-thaw cycle this year has been worse than usual, and that the amount of frost and ice we've been experiencing make for more holes in the ground.

Because of the seemingly "never-ending" snowfall, crews can't get out to fix the holes as often as they'd like.

However, crews say they have been cold-patching whenever the weather permits.

A thaw is expected later this week, however, if the roads are not dry enough, cold-patching will not be able to take place.

If you have a pothole that you’d like to report, call the streets department at 814-870-1340.
