SeaWolves Drop Back-to-Back Games in Trenton

Erie Loses To Thunder; Cooper Holds Teixeria/Youkilis Silent

The SeaWolves could not get the bats heated up again on Wednesday morning in Trenton as they dropped the middle game of the series to the Thunder 3-1 at Arm & Hammer Park.

 

Trenton got on the board in the fourth against Erie starter Patrick Cooper as Slade Heathcott broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run to left for a 1-0 lead.

 

The 'Wolves tied the game in the top of the sixth against Trenton starter Zach Nudig as Eugenio Suarez belted a solo home run to left, his third of the season and second in the last week.

 

Trenton quickly regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Kevin Youkilis led off with a walk and Tyler Austin connected on a two-run home run to left making it a 3-1 game.

 

The SeaWolves threatened in the eighth against reliever Brandon Pinder as they loaded the bases but could not score.

 

Cooper (2-5) took the loss allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts in six innings of work.


The Yankees duo of Youkilis and Mark Teixeira, both on rehab assignments with Trenton, combined to go 0-4 with two walks and a run against Cooper.

 

The SeaWolves will look to avoid being swept for the first time this season on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Warwick Saupold (4-1, 2.55 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Mikey O'Brien (3-0, 2.35 ERA).
