The SeaWolves dropped the opening game of a four-game series against the Trenton Thunder, 10-5 on Thursday night at Jerry Uht Park.

Erie jumped ahead in the third against Trenton starter Jairo Heredia. Francisco Martinez singled, moved to second on a Dixon Machado knock and later scored on a Jason Krizan groundout for a 1-0 lead.

Trenton quickly tied the game in the top of the fourth on a Zach Wilson solo blast off of Erie starter Kyle Ryan.

Erie regained the lead in the home half of the third. Steven Moya led off with a double and scored on a Corey Jones base knock making it 2-1. Once again, however, the Erie lead was short lived as Trenton tied it in the top of the fifth on a Ben Gamel sacrifice fly that scored Ali Castillo.

Erie took its final lead of the night in the fifth. Machado led off with his second of three knocks and scored on a Jamie Johnson double making it 3-2.

In the top of the sixth, Carmen Angelini doubled home a pair of baserunners with one out making it 4-3 Thunder. Trenton would lead the remainder of the game.

Erie plated runs in the seventh and eighth innings on groundouts from Krizan and Dean Green but the ‘Wolves could not overcome a five-run top of the eighth.

Ryan (5-7) took the loss allowing four runs on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts in five innings of work.
