JUNE 16, 2014-- More than 70 people attending tonight's public hearing to learn more about the storm water management plan and voice their concerns. The public hearing at the Albion Fire Department was to discuss the new water management plan ordinance that the Conneaut Township Supervisors had to vote on. The DEP is mandating municipalities put this ordinance into effect to prevent storm water from sending toxins, dirt and debris into the water ways. For those wanting to build anything larger than 1,000 square feet. they will have to abide by the ordinance regulations. Supervisors say this is a law that has been around since the 1970s and they believe the DEP is now cracking down to make sure everyone has this process in place. Many community members are outraged with the ordinance saying they are concerned with the expenses that this new ordinance will tack on. Court documents were already filed against the municipality back in March because they did not have this ordinance in place. The ordinance was ultimately decided on tonight when the supervisors passed it.
