United Way of the Titusville Region under the direction of Terri Ann Wig, Chief Professional Officer
United Way of the Titusville Region under the direction of Terri Ann Wig, Chief Professional Officer; Christian Maher Executive Director of the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation and Trenton Moulin Executive Director of the Venango County based Bridge Builders Community Foundation are partnering to bring an educational opportunity to the Titusville Region. “How To Be A Great Board Member” will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the Towne Square Conference Center. The seminar will begin at 4:00 PM and will last approximately 2 hours.
Peter Drucker, “the father of modern management”, frequently asserted that the most underutilized resource in any nonprofit is the Board of Directors. Nonprofits are good at recruiting and getting good people around the table, but are they getting the most out of their abilities, interests and connections? One of the reasons we fall short is that we do not educate board members on what are the responsibilities of the job. The 2 hour seminar will attempt to get this message out.
Facilator, Michale Brand, MNO, has been carrying the message of transformation….that we can rething the whole nature of nonprofits and create exciting new models that pursue the mission and fulfill the hearts of those working in the organization. Michael currently serves as the Director of Leadership Development for the Nonprofit Partnership in Erie, where he is leading the coaching and training efforts to ignite nonprofit transformation in the region.
Mr. Brand will focus on the 10 essential duties in being a great board member. This session is designed for volunteer board members and nonprofit managers to help maximize the enormous amount of talent already present in our communities. A high functioning board will increase fiscal stability, program efficiency and ultimate impact upon community needs.
Community members can register by contacting Terri Ann Wig at the United Way of the Titusville Region by email mailto://twig@titusvilleunitedway.com  or by calling 814-827-1322. The seminar is free of charge and open to the public as seating is available.
