A 68-year-old woman is dead and three
Oil City police officers are on administrative leave after one of the officers shot and killed the woman. Marilyn Peterson died from a single gunshot to the chest after police say she came at them with a large kitchen knife. Just minutes before, Marilyn Peterson's son, Raymond Peterson, called police to report he and his mother had gotten into a heated argument and he needed police at his Central Avenue home. When police arrived, Peterson, along with his fiance and two young children were told to wait outside, but within minutes he knew something was going terribly wrong. The son says he heard police tell her to drop the knife and then he heard a gun go off. Police report they tried to use non-lethal force on Peterson but she refused to drop the knife and was making slashing motions and coming at them, forcing one of the officers to fire the deadly shot.
