After that tragic shooting in dc officials are reporting Aaron Alexis could have been suffering from multiple mental illnesses and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Now officials are saying the DC gunman, a former sailor, may have suffered from this disorder. ABC news reports that Aaron Alexis's father told a detective he believed his son was suffering from PTSD. The United States Department of Veterans Affairs reports about 7 to 8 percent of the population will suffer from PTSD in their lives. Officials say people who suffer from the disorder are more on edge and may react negatively rather than talk it through. Some triggers that may cause reaction can be related to nightmares, seeing or smelling things throughout the day or even road rage. Local officials say generally speaking there is a lot more than what meets the eye when it comes to people dealing with PTSD. Many people who show signs of the disorder may not seek treatment for a variety of reasons.
