Erie Insurance Arena Renovations Complete

Following several years of renovations, the Erie Insurance Arena is ready to show off a slew of updated amenities.
September 24, 2013 - "I think anyone that comes in here is going to pinch themselves and say 'holy smokes, I can't believe this is Erie.’"

That’s how Erie County Convention Center Authority executive director, Casey Wells, describes the all new arena.
This is a major facelift for the thirty year old sports and entertainment venue is complete.

To date, $47 million has been spent, and several years of renovations have been completed, and now the Erie Insurance Arena is ready to open up its doors and impress the people of Erie and beyond.

"I played hockey here for a long time even since I was a little tyke, so it's nice to see all the changes. It was a long time coming and it's just wonderful all around the board," said Erie native, Patrick Figurski.

The new renovations, which include new, plush seats, now in a bowl shape, new restrooms and concession areas, wider concourses and an expanded lobby are just some of the new things that are making the arena quite impressive.

With these updates, officials say bigger acts are more inclined to perform in Erie, like the Zac Brown Band, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

With the big acts set to perform, and a nicer facility for our local teams to show off their talents, officials say the renovations to the Erie Insurance Arena were a necessity for the Erie area.

"If you stand still, you're falling behind. A lot of facilities are being built like this around the country: Erie deserves it," said Wells.

Public tours are Saturday, from 1pm-5pm.
