Formerly Homeless Man Shares His Story

Cortez McDaniel speaks at Gannon University for Hunger and Homelessness Week.
November 19, 2013 - Cortez McDaniel traveled from Washington DC to speak at Gannon University's annual "Soup and Substance" event Tuesday evening.

McDaniel shared his story: McDaniel went from a football star at Virginia Tech, then after getting an injury he turned to a life of selling drugs, then ended up behind bars, and then homeless.

Students listened closely to his inspirational words and listened to how he is now giving back.

McDaniel now works as a transition coordinator for the Father Mckenna Center in DC helping homeless men.

Just this past May, a group of Gannon students spent their time in DC at the center, and they say it was a life-changing experience.
