Free Thanksgiving Meals from Volunteers

Many places around town served Thanksgiving dinner to the less fortunate this holiday
November 28, 2013

The Sisters of Saint Joseph served up the 25th annual Thanksgiving dinner today to anyone in need of a hot holiday meal. Gannon University hosted the dinner in their Waldron Campus Center. Hundreds of volunteers and benefactors come together each year to make the dinner possible. The extra money that is not used on the Thanksgiving meal will be put to good use. About 800 people were served, and hundreds of dinners were delivered to those in need.

And Mercyhurst Preparatory High School and Calamaris Squid Row are providing a traditional Thanksgiving meal for those who cant make ends meet this holiday. This is the fifth year for the collaboration. Staff, students and community members have all pitched in to make this meal a success. Over the last five years, they have served thanksgiving meals to nearly 12- hundred people.
