Gabriel Brothers Moving to Summit Township

The new Gabriel Brothers will be 86 thousand square feet, doubling the size of the current store.

SEPTEMBER 27, 2013-  It's official... A popular discount shopping retailer is moving out of Millcreek and heading to Summit Township.
Gabriel Brorthers will move from the West Erie Plaza, which has been its home for nearly 15 years...
The store is headed to a bigger location in Summit Township on Peach Street in the old Kmart near Sam's Club.
The new Gabriel Brothers will be 86 thousand square feet, doubling the size of the current store.
It will also take on a new name-Gabe's.
Ultimately, it will make it the largest in the store chain.
50 new employees will be hired.
The company that owns West Erie Plaza... VCG Properties declined on camera interviews.
But they tell us the move has been in the works since early 2013.
They won't say what will replace the store.... But we did find out from Gabe's CEO that their lease was up this coming summer.
Millcreek Township Supervisor Brian McGrath says VCG Properties has discussed a mixed-use residential retail plan at West Erie Plaza, but the company has not confirmed what will replace the soon to be vacant building.
The new Gabe's in Summit Township will open on November 1st.
The CEO of Gabe's says the new store will feature a bigger selection of name brands.
